Summary: My (in)ability to learn Hindi is being stymied by my past attempts to learn commonly used words.
I’m “desperately” trying to learn Hindi, but I’m finding that the hodgepodge of languages I’ve attempted to learn in my past are haunting me. (German, Spanish, and Tamil are repeat offenders.) When trying to say “dhanyavaad,” I have to stop myself from saying “dankenshen.” “Dos” instead of “do” (two). “Vanakkam” before “Hello.”
I have the vocabulary of a child, age 5 days.
